It shouldnt be about me

In a ”selfie culture”, its difficult to make such statements but thats exactly what my life have been about and that is what I want my life to be about.

I care much about you, I care much about the people around me. I might not show it often but I really do. In 2011 I captured that in three words ”The Plus Life”. I want to add value to the people I meet everyday, everytime and anywhere. I want to go out of my way to help, i can even hurt myself just to see you are okay.

It shouldnt be about me, today I celebrate another year and I have shown in a little way that it shouldnt be about me. I have talked with people this morning who would feel bad they didnt know today is my birthday anniversary.

I would never feel bad! Its not about me
For this next phase of my life, its about the impact and imprints I can leave in people, in things, wherever I find myself at all time and in all places.

If you feel obliged drop a comment but either way, its not about me.

Compelling Forces: Power of Vision

Today we would go back to our question from previous post.

If you have $1trillion, how would you think? how would you act? what would you do?

What would you do?

Do you know that Nigeria’s GDP is currently $1 trillion? Shocking, right?

Our question could have also been, if you are the president what would you do.

What you would do is an offset of the vision you have. Vision are thoughts of a perceived future or a desirable sate of things.

Vision is a compelling force that drives the life of a man, it sets pace for him to pursue. It keeps him constantly at the edge to achieve great things. Even when failure comes the vision propels him to push through and move ahead.

Do you have a vision for your life?

I have a vision that all of my life would be summed up in create a habitable and *skill enhancing facility to cater for 1000 people who would naturally not be able to do so for them self (I use skill here in a broad sense to cover both academics and handiwork depend on personal traits). The stretching part of this vision is that it would be replicated in all 36 state of the nation.

Silly? Stupid? Unattainable?

Did I hear you use those words, please don’t. I have wrote to you once to have a possibility mindset and think how can it be done.

If your vision is not bigger than what you alone can achieve, then its still a childs play.

The power in the vision would bring the people, the resources and the wisdom to guide you in achieving the vision.

You now know what I would do with $1 trillion.

Do you have a vision?

Rise

I would break from the conventional this morning in this post. I woke up, switched on my music player, part of a routine to start my day and a song struck a cord in me. There are things I need to rise above and rise unto and the song really speak to me in that light.

I feel one of you out there need to rise also. Rise from a falling relationship, rise and braze up to challenge your negative past that is haunting your future. Rise from the feel of financial lack and unfulifilment. Rise from the depressing feelings that are pushing you to the wall and making a slave from your life.

I can’t send you the song right now but I would post the lyrics, read through and if it resonates with you then download the song.

“Rise”
Walk across the shore
Walk across the sea
Stand upon the waves
And walk with me
Journey through the door
Come see what I can see
All the reasons we were made
Who we were meant to be
Rise, He’s calling you to go
Just leave it all behind
And rise above
Beyond the obvious
And what you can attain
Past the here and now
Where faith remains
Lift your weary head
There’s too much left to lose
More than you can imagine
It’s waiting there for you
Rise, He’s calling you to come
Just leave it all behind
And rise above
Come and stand
And join with me as one
Now take my hand and we
Will rise above
(yeah) (ooh, oh) (yeah) (ooh, oh) (yeah) (ooh, oh)
Rise, He’s calling you to come
Just leave it all behind
And rise above
Come and stand
And join with me as one
Now take my hand and we
Will rise above
(ooh, oh) (ooh, oh) (ooh, oh)
Come stand with me
(ooh oh) (ooh, oh) (ooh, oh)
Come stand with me

-Michael W Smith

You’ve read it all, let them go, face whats ahead. Plan for what is ahead and take the steps to rise.

Would you RISE?

Compelling Forces: The Power of Thought

If you have $1trillion, how would you think? how would you act? what would you do?

That was our thought checker question from yesterday, I only got very few response and it was thrilling.

How would you think?

Thoughts shape our lives. Thought moulds our minds. Thoughts give direction to our beliefs and invariably makes us who we are.

Would $1trillion make you think of negative things, evil deeds, or it makes you think of wonderful things?

Would it make you think of being a lord over others or it would make you think of serving them?

Whatever you thought about or think about is your true nature. Its who you really are.

As a man thinks in his heart so his he.

Its not what you tell people about you that define who you are, its what your thoughts makes you do that defines who you are.

You might say you are not that cold or heartless, but then you act cold and heartless.

You might say you want to love till the end. But when the situation presented itself for you to show love unconditional you were the first one to skip out.

Sometimes for us to really know who we truly are we need to subject ourselves to the pressure of varying situations. Will they break you or will you stand strong.

Many of us who point fingers at our political leaders would not do better because our thoughts are flawed, inconsistent with what we profess or claim to be. Some of us based on our little actions would do worst things.

Think on these things, constantly subjesct your actions to the scrutiny of what you profess, align them and live a whole life.

As a man thinks so his he, you thoughts is a compelling force for your life. Watch how you direct it.

Compelling Forces

I want to write some compelling things to you. I want to push you hard a little but I want to know how far you will be willing to go.

I know there are a few things you need to change, new things you desire to see, new experiences and all the likes.

But I also know that some of them are not happening yet. And you wish something can just compel you and bring everything you need and put them in place.

I wish so most times too, but I know that life doesnt respond that way. So what if you know how life responds, wouldnt that give you a key to unlock the treasures your heart has always desired.

Ahhh, I caught you there, I dont know all of how life responds either but I have found a promising way to achieve my desires.

Today I would just push you with a question. Its not a wishful thinking so don’t approach it that way or dont discard it either. Think about your answer to the question, let it sink into you mind and heart (if you can, write it down) and share with me.

If you have $1trillion, how would you think? how would you act? what would you do?

When you give VALUE.

We have talked about values before. We said it is the worth or the importance you attached to something/somebody or the worth or level of importance something/somebody have.

You are unconsciously and consciously getting value from these post. You are finding something to think about, or something to act on. Yesterday I share an opportunity worth $10m, that tells you how much value I am willing to dispense to you. I plan to keep these post forever and I know that I would share some opportunities that would transform people’s life. I had already taken a step in that direction. Two of my circle pals are benfitting from a partnership in the bulk messaging business I started. Well its too young to talk about all that and I would rather give you a mature gist latter.

The truth is when you give out value, value would also come back to you. It’s as natural as that and also as simple as that. Be careful, I am not talking about karma here because even karma is flawed, it sometimes hunts those who have no business being hunted.

While I was serving in Amasiri, Ebonyi State my friends and I created value for students of Comprehensive Secondary School Amasiri by paying their terminal examanition fees. Trust me it was a little act of value on our path but when you think of the value that we would get back you would be amazed.

Such acts can prevent a child from droping out of school and later create insurgent groups to agitate of unreasonable things and that would cost me my peace in a way, maybe restrict my movements to certain regions.

Value adding are in different form. Value could also be in the form of training 1000 youths in skills acquization for free like Joseph Amusan is doing in the south west. I mentioned this earlier and I am mentioning it again because it is it to stir you to think of ways you can add value or give value to the society.

Its not enough to complain, how are you giving value? If we all as citizens are giving value in our little way then the country we dream of would become a reality.

I am very open to conversations so I would like to hear what you are doing in your little way.

Remember, when you give value, value comes back to you and to everyone around.

What inspires you

I was hoping I won’t write today. I didn’t sleep all night because I was fixing a few articles for a kids & teenage magazine. I still have one of them to fine tune.

Knowing that you are looking out for a post from me is an inspiration to write every time. Find what inspires you then you would be able to push through the laziness.

Also I would love to share an amazing competition with you. My circle of friends is looking at joining the competition and we would love people who have the skill or a resources to be able to pull it off to send me a reply indicating that they would like to be part of it and I would take it up from there.

Are You Ready to Win a $10m Prize by Developing a Solution to Educate Millions of Children?

There are almost 60m children around the world, who are not attending school. Of these, half are In Africa. The vast majority are girls.

This number is now increasing further because of conflict in Northern Nigeria, Syria, Iraq, Ukraine, and also because of the Ebola crisis in Guinea, Sierra Leone, and Liberia.

This is a terrible situation, which must be addressed. The question is how do we build enough schools, hire enough teachers, provide enough books, and other materials, to educate so many children?

Where will we get the money? And how long will it take before we have done all that; it might be decades, and meanwhile a whole generation’s future will have been lost!

A few months ago, I attended a meeting at the headquarters of Twitter in California, organised by former British Prime Minister Gordon Brown, who has been appointed by UN Secretary General, Ban Ki Moon, to lead a global effort to try and address this challenge.

Gathered at this meeting were some of the leading entrepreneurs, from Silicon Valley and around the world, to “brainstorm” different ways technology could be used to tackle this problem.

One of the boldest initiatives came from one of the most successful entrepreneurs in the tech world: Peter Diamandis. He is the founder of what is known as the XPRIZE. I love this guy…he is really my kind of guy!

Anyway, his solution was to challenge some of the entrepreneurs who were there to set up a $15m prize to be won by anyone who could come up with a solution!

This is not the first time, Peter, has done this: A few years ago, he caught the world’s attention by putting up a similar prize for the first entrepreneurs, to come up with a solution to develop private spaceflight, build a 100 mile per gallon car, improve oil-cleanup technology, among other challenges.

Such prizes are a great way to find a solution to a problem. And it works!

These grand challenges draw teams of entrepreneurs and techies from all over the world, who battle it out until there is a winner!

Now Peter wants entrepreneurs and educators from around the world to team up, and come up with a solution, under a new XPRIZE, for Global Learning:

To win it, you will have to literally, “re-invent” education, from the way we know it today. A team will have to develop an “App”, which will make it possible for a child, who has never been to school, to learn to read, write and master basic arithmetic, without the aid of a teacher.

If you can do that you will walk away with $10m cash as the winner!

Prior to this, the five groups chosen as finalists in the competition will each receive $1m to work on their idea.

If you want to know the rules of the competition, then you will have to study, it on the XPRIZE’s website:

http:// learning.xprize. org.

The competition was launched, this week, at the UN Headquarters.

At the same time, if this is not your area of skills, but you still want to help, you can do so by contributing even a few dollars, towards the competition’s cost. Remember this is a global effort. You can get details of this on: http://igg.me/ at/ learningxprize. Every dollar donated through the website will be matched 100%, one-for-one. The money raised will help XPRIZE test the finalist’s technologies with more kids in more villages and towns.

I believe that there are people out there with the innovative capability, and know how to come up with the solution required. This is why I have joined a small group of entrepreneurs, who have put together the $15m, prize money.

My dream is to also have someone who first heard about it on this site, to be the winner. I hope it is you!

There is a lot of newspaper articles on this prize, and if you are interested in it, please

We need people who would put in some effort, so if you are such person read about it on this link and get back to me

http:// learning.xprize. org.

Why you shouldnt promise

Have you promised someone lately?

Yes, me too. If I haven’t promised anybody atleast I have promised myself many times. One of those promises which spur the title for this post was when I promised myself by ordering some items online.

I equate this experience with promise because they share the same traits. They make the person given the promise to have high hopes and high expectations.

This trait showed with my order, I was more conscious of the dates, an automatic countdown was running in my mind. With everything I was looking forward to the day my parcel arrives.

I actually place an order of two items lets call them A and B, A was to arrive in 15 days while B would arrive in 35 days and I cherished A more than B.

Just a day to the 15th day I got a text that a parcel was waiting for me to pick up. I was estactic, excited and filled with over flowing joy.

I almost ran to their office but before I would make my way there it would be past office hours.

Long story short, I was there the next morning and after sorting myself I was given B. All that excitement deflated in one second, I couldn’t believe it. I wasn’t happy.

Hope deferred makes the heart sick.

The same way when you promise someone and you let them down by not honouring the words of your promise you make them sick. All around in society we have sick people because there have been lots of promises from our government officials, from parents, from pastors, from your spouse, from your friends and maybe from yourself.

When we don’t keep to our promises or when people dont keep to their promises it causes chaos, disorientation and a feeling of let down. My advise in a way will be, dont hold onto promises too much. It might just be a shock cussioning for you but ultimate don’t make promises.

But if you must promise then do everything within your rightly means to fulfil them.
